Tomas' body found
I am very sad to report that Tomas Olsson has been found dead. His father reported the news. The world has lost a fantastic person and one of the greatest ski mountaineers. My thoughts are with all the ones close to him.
Tomas’ body has been flown to Kathmandu by a helicopter from Nepal. The fact that he was found (at 6700 m right below the Great Couloir where he fell) and that his body is on the way home is a positive thing among all the sadness about his loss. A helicopter evacuation from the North side of Everest has never been accomplished before. His family, close friends, teammates, Nepalese trekking agency and the Swedish embassy have all played an incredible positive role in making this happen, giving Tomas the honor he deserves.

My condolences to Tomas' family, girlfriend and all his friends. I am deeply saddened by this news. The following is a quote I wrote for Tomas:
Some say that extreme adventure is too dangerous, that you might not live. But for the extremist, not to adventure is not to live. MC
Rest in peace, Tomas, you lived your life to the fullest.

Dear Viviane, family and friends,
Loving someone with a passion for mountains and climbing to an extreme level is as risky as undertaking the adventures yourself.
But were the adventurers are fearless, those who stay behind live in fear all the time, fear for losing their loved one.
Being close to an adventurer myself, I share your fears, as many others do.
Tomas was an adventurer, he had no choice but following his passion. It did not turn out as he hoped it would however, and now your greatest fear has become reality.
I wish you warmth and strength together, to bear the pain and deep grieve for the loss of Tomas.
My thoughts are with you.

I was part of the army exped on the West Ridge. I met Tomas and Thor during their reconnaisance through our camp. We had a meal together and talked of the Viking spirit! Thor, you said I looked a bit like a viking! (I was flattered and will always try to live like a viking)I thought as we climbed, how awesome it would be to join the guys in descent. Tomas had a gentle strength and warm presence to him that obviously made him an easy friend. I hoped we would meet in the future. For all Tomas close friends and family his passing will be a huge loss. Thor, keep living in the way you both would, follow dreams you both had. Tomas died whilst LIVING his life.

I met the team of three gentle, talented, strong and clever men on our expedition to Mt Everest this year. In all the tenseness of the mountain, Tomas, Tormod and Fredrik had been the ones I liked to be friends with most. I was deeply saddened by his death but I'm at least happy that he passed away where he loved to be, doing something he loved. My deep condolences to his girl friend, family and friends.
Bye my dear friend, farewell to you on your last trip...
