Hello skiers,
The sun has just come out for the balance of the afternoon. Most of the morning at Alpine offered up some good skiing on 2 to 3 inches of new snow, but visibility was only fair to poor, especially on the upper slopes.
A cloud hung over the mountain, moving around from one slope to another all morning. Winds were blowing at the top, but all lifts were in operation. We found good snow and made some enjoyable turns on Peril Ridge, Peter’s Peril, Our Father, Sympathy, and Gentian Gully. Good snow was under foot in the Palisades area, but visibility was hampering full enjoyment. Many of the moguls have been 80% filled in there troughs, and some have flatten out completely, but still others are firm and popping up just enough to trip a rider up.
We received real snow showers all morning. Small hard crystals fell on my clothing and bounced off into the air below the chair, but now all is calm. The forecast is for a good size storm with up to a foot of new snow beginning late tonight and continuing through Saturday. Winds are supposed to be very strong on Saturday. The snow and wind should subside on Sunday.
Enjoy your day. Andy
